Local support and spares for your Liquid Filling Machine

When it comes to buying filling equipment of any type, one of the main things that customers often don't think about is support.

Whether you're investing in a liquid filling machine, a pump filler or any other type of packing machine, having after-sales support and spares is essential to maintaining production for your company.

Since our company is based in Australia, and our machines and spares are manufactured in Australia, you can feel comfortable knowing that if anything happens, support is only a call away. And if you need replacement parts for your liquid filling machine, you won't have to wait months for parts to be sent from overseas - they're made right here in our factory in Castle Hill, Australia.

One of the great things about buying a filling machine from us is that our machines last a lifetime. We've seen many examples where a liquid filling machine made by us over 30 years ago is still in use.

If you're considering buying a liquid filling machine offshore, remember to consider the support and the availability of the spare parts when it comes to buying.

What is a Liquid Filling Machine?

A liquid filling machine fills containers with a specific amount of liquid from a reservoir. A liquid filling machine can fill either volumetrically, or to a specific level.

Volumetric filling machines fill a container with a set volume (quantity) of liquid every time. This means that for containers with slight discrepancies in size and shape, the level of the liquid in the container may be different, however, the quantity will always be the same.

Liquid-level filling machines fill containers to the same level every time regardless of quantity. This is more common for beverage bottle filling, where the producer wishes to have the liquid at the same level in every bottle when viewed on a shelf for aesthetics.

A liquid filling machine can either be automatic, or semi automatic. Automatic filling systems fill new bottles continuously, usually with the aid of a conveyor system, this is more common in a production line. There is limited human input once the process has started. Semi-automatic filling machines complete one cycle, say bottle filling for one bottle, then stop. This means that human input is required for each cycle. This is suited for smaller operations with no conveyors, where an operator can fill each container one by one.

Semi-automatic filling systems are still advantageous to manual filling because the liquid filling is completed in a set process, where the exact quantity is drawn from the reservoir, and filled into the bottle. This saves manually measuring the liquid for each container, or worse still having to pick up a large container of liquid and pour it into all of the bottles.

How does a Liquid Filling Machine Work?

There are a range of liquid filling systems on the market. At Asset Packaging Machines, we supply volumetric filling machines. This type of liquid filling machine works in 4 steps.

First the liquid is drawn into the filling cylinder from the reservoir. Since the cylinder is pneumatically operated, the reservoir doesn't have to be above the machine, it can draw from drums or tanks below the filling machine.

Second the bottle or container is placed below the nozzle of the liquid filling machine. For automatic machines, this is done by the conveyor system, for semi-automatic machines, this is done by hand.

Third, the container is filled with liquid. Flow liquids with low viscosity can be filled relatively quickly, whilst liquid products like creams and honey can take longer. The filling is completed by compressing the cylinder that was expanded in the first step and forcing the liquid through the machine pipes and manifold, through the nozzle and out into the container.

Finally, the container is moved away from the machine, so that the process can start again. This could be done manually, or by a conveyor.

A quality liquid filling machine can deal with a wide range of liquid products, such as beverages, cosmetics, cleaners, even corrosive or industrial chemicals.
